San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama surprised fans in New York City by playing chess in Washington Square Park on Saturday morning.

Wembanyama, who scored 19 points in San Antonio’s win against Brooklyn on Friday, asked fans on social media where the best place to play was, and then he showed up in the rain.

The second-year star is on a tear to close out the calendar year, winning Western Conference Player of the Week and leading San Antonio to a marquee Christmas Day win over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Now he heads to Minnesota for a matchup against Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves on Sunday (8 ET, NBA League Pass).
