Man City vs. Brentford: Expected Starting 11, Confirmed Lineups, Team News and Injuries - Can Jack Grealish continue his England form?

Manchester City has maintained their winning streak this season, securing three victories in a row and solidifying their position at the top of the Premier League table.

Erling Haaland is in lethal form and followed his strike against Chelsea on the opening weekend with back-to-back hat-tricks in the victories over Ipswich Town and West Ham.

Nevertheless, Thomas Frank's Brentford have often proved problematic opponents for City. They were the only team to defeat Pep Guardiola's treble winners twice in 2022/23 and narrowly fell to a tense 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium last season when Haaland got the decisive goal.

The Sporting News looks at the confirmed team news, the latest on injuries, and the predicted lineups for this fixture.

Man City vs. Brentford lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news

Jack Grealish made his first start of the season at West Ham before the international break and was then on the scoresheet as England beat the Republic of Ireland in Dublin. The 29-year-old is expected to keep his place, even with Savinho set to return from the knee complaint that ruled him out at the London Stadium.

Phil Foden has not featured since the opening weekend of the season due to illness and sat out England's games with Ireland and Finland. Guardiola will hope to have the PFA Player of the Year back in his ranks, while fellow Ballon d'Or nominee Rodri is poised to make his first start of the campaign.

Defender Nathan Ake was injured in the Netherlands' UEFA Nations League match against Germany this week and will likely miss out.

Man City predicted XI (3-2-4-1, right to left): Ederson (GK) — Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Lewis, Rodri — Savinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Grealish — Haaland.

Injured: Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb, Phil Foden (doubt)
Suspended:

This is Brentford's first game since attacking talisman Ivan Toney completed his move to the Saudi Pro League but the England striker did not feature as Frank's men racked up six points from their opening three games.

Haaland is the only player to have scored more than Bryan Mbeumo's three so far this term. Summer signings Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho might have to be content with places on the bench again.

Kristoffer Ajer was substituted before halftime in the win over Southampton and missed Norway's UEFA Nations League fixtures with an ankle injury. Mads Roerslev is favourite to come in at right-back.

Brentford predicted XI (4-1-4-1, right to left): Flekken (GK) — Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Janelt — Norgaard — Mbeumo, Jensen, Damsgaard, Schade — Wissa

Injured: Kristoffer Ajer, Rico Henry, Igor Thiago, Josh Dasilva, Aaron Hickey
Suspended:
